We talked, of course, about leadership, but above all about how control isn’t the best way to lead, and how to lead and engage the people around you—primarily through your vision and passion. How to lead through meaning, rather than through a hierarchical, control-based approach.
We didn’t say a word about singing, so those of you who know Sissi as a singer will now discover entirely new perspectives on her and her approach to life, to leading people, and to influencing them.
In my opinion, leadership is precisely about using our energy to inspire others to do something they wouldn’t otherwise do. And Sissi is a wonderful example of this. Control, structure, and rules are things that give us the illusion that things are safe—until life shows us that they aren’t. We talked about changes—or rather, transformations—and how we can’t let go of the old if we want the new. And so we carry around all of that, which ultimately leads to overload, burnout, and depression.
We also addressed the question of whether and how young people actually want to become leaders, even though statistics suggest they don’t. You’ll find out by listening to or watching the podcast.
You can still find the “Leadership Without Management” podcast on your preferred platform. As you know, LinkedIn doesn’t support external links, so it’s up to each of you to discover it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or YouTube.
