Stop motivating, start inspiring!

As leaders, the notion of motivating others is a common topic of discussion and is often a requested topic during my training sessions. However, I usually suggest a shift in perspective: instead of trying to motivate our teams directly, let’s focus on the power of inspiration.

Probably, we all know that true inspiration comes not from external pressures or rewards but from within – a flame ignited by our own passion for the work we do.

When we are genuinely inspired by the tasks at hand, our enthusiasm becomes contagious, creating a ripple effect that motivates those around us. However, there is an important aspect – as leaders, you shouldn’t be inspired by the tasks but by human beings.

You should be inspired by your work as a leader for PEOPLE. Tasks are not a leader’s thing; people are! If you’re inspired by people, only then can you inspire your employees to be inspired by customers, other colleagues – people.

When our teams witness your genuine commitment and enthusiasm, it sparks a sense of purpose and drive within them. Inspiration, unlike motivation, isn’t imposed but rather shared and embraced.
