In my book “Juhtimise jalajälg” I asked what kind of mark a leader leaves on people, an organization, and, of course, society. This book takes us one step further back in time and asks: what drives the leader themselves, and what is worth bringing to light? And further still, what ethical impact does leadership have on the entire world—and, of course, on leadership trainers themselves. So, it’s a logical continuation of the previous book.
The impact of leadership begins long before the moment a leader gives feedback, opens a meeting, approves a strategy, intervenes in a conflict, or assigns tasks. Much, much earlier. Leadership is the visible consequence of something that is mostly invisible.
That is the question that interests me the most right now. It’s not just about what and how a leader leads or should lead – plenty has already been written on that.
What interests me most about this book is precisely that invisible quality that makes the leader’s actions what they are.
So what is guiding the leader when he thinks he is in control of the situation, or what is speaking through him when he thinks he is simply speaking professionally?
I am increasingly convinced that real change in leadership does not stem from a new tool, model, or technique. In fact, most tools, models, and techniques are only about 70% effective. But what is this remaining, so-called invisible part?
Until the new book is ready, “Juhtimise jalajälg” is also available as an e-book and audiobook on Elisa Raamat. The new book should be out this fall, and in the meantime, it would be a great idea to read or listen to the prequel 🙂
The nearly finished manuscript already contains quite a few deep explorations of the leader’s own journey into the unseen layers beneath the teams, but just as when writing the previous book, the readers’ genuine wishes and suggested topics were a great help in creating a connection between the reader’s and my own worldview.
So I look forward to hearing your thoughts, either here in the comments or via a private message.
