Have you ever considered how much the meaning of our set goals can change over time?
We live in an era where we often expect more from people than might be realistic.
The history of our species stretches back hundreds of thousands of years, whereas the history of the organizational world is relatively short, about 150-200 years. This historical perspective highlights how people’s needs and goals have evolved over time.
In the world of organizations, however, we tend to forget that people’s needs changeβas they have throughout the ages.
Throughout my career, I have experienced how work in the corporate world initially seemed enjoyable, but over time, my interests and values changed. Eventually, I no longer found satisfaction in endless reporting and risk mitigation, but I discovered that my passion lies in supporting people’s development.
Today, I work in a role that allows me to focus on what I truly enjoyβhelping others develop their potentialπ.
This journey has taught me how important it is to understand and acknowledge that the meaning of our goals can and should change over time, as it reflects our inner growth and development.
I emphasize the importance of being open to changes and adjusting our goals according to personal development and changing circumstances.
Each of us deserves the opportunity to engage in work that nourishes our soul and supports our endeavors.
