As a subscriber to a training course, do you feel that this is a familiar question:
👉 How can you make sure that the training doesn’t just remain a nice event and that after the training the managers don’t drown in their daily life again?
The answer is not just in updating content or finding new trainers. The answer lies in changing the meaning of training. Training is not just a place where knowledge is passed on, where we are given information (worksheets, slides, etc. to be forgotten in a drawer after the training) and we ourselves must have the will and discipline to put it into practice.
Training must be a space for transformation, fearlessly created and nurtured. This means:
✅ more space for silence, questions, slowing down.
✅ more room for emotions and listening to each other
✅ fewer topics in one day with the temptation to cover everything in one training session
✅ the right for managers to engage in self-development, not to answer emails or phone calls or rush to meetings at the same time.
✅ more honest mirrors and fewer illusions about “10 steps to…”
✅ more supported internal movement, not just external action plans and “practical exercises”.
✅ more opportunity to argue, discuss without fear of conflict.
✅ more discomfort and allowing confusion (because out of confusion can come new order and out of discomfort comes growth).
✅ more courage for the client to guide their people into the argyle through bolder approaches.
✅ more focus on the most complex human mental process: the will.
This is only possible if the “trainer” has experience of both worlds. A bit self-servingly, I have:
🧭 I have led 60 leaders and through them nearly 2000 people
🪞 I am a certified therapist and leadership mentor with a strong foundation in working with the dark side of the human psyche.
It’s not my job to teach you how to be a leader, although I can always support you from my own experience. My job is to help people see who they are as human beings behind the role of leader. Leadership is a set of skills to use tools, but above all it is the greatest leader as a human being.
If you are running development programmes or looking for a trainer, ask yourself:
❌ Do I want good content, an exciting new trainer and to repeat the same next year?
✅ Or do I want to create a space where the person moves forward within themselves and because of that there is a transformation in the development of the organisation, in values, in results?
What most organisations (including leaders) need today is transformation. Societal processes are a clear illustration of this. However, transformation is much deeper and slower than traditional change, although ultimately more effective.
And now straight to the sales – if you feel as a supporter and creator of leadership development programmes that the current trainings aren’t working, write and together we will create a space where something new really happens through bold reflection that lasts. It’s not an easy journey. However, I can see from the many clients who have taken this journey that it has been necessary and important. After all, the world is yours for the bold 🙂
