We talk about work-life balance in many companies, but why are team dinners at 18.30? Maybe why team-bonding happens when someone’s child falls asleep or a partner is looking forward to a little time together in the evening?
I’ve worked with several teams to do things like Christmas lunches or different breakfasts, so that team building, which is also work, still happens at the agreed working hours. Creating a sense of team is exactly the same job as, for example, customer service.
If we are a family-friendly company, we also try not to make people choose between work and private life in these situations.
I believe we need a culture where a sense of belonging does not depend on giving up one’s private life, even if it happens “rarely”.
If you feel that it’s time to look at leadership and teamwork from a new angle – in a way that really matters to people – I’m there. That’s what I do.
Because the old ways often lead to the same results, but it’s like we’re all looking for a new smartphone and a new way of doing things. So let’s try small things 🙂 From team dinners to team lunches or breakfasts, for example.
