Do I want what I want to happen?
Or am I ready for what is bound to happen?
As leaders, we are used to planning, directing, making an effort, organising and taking action.
But sometimes we don’t notice how we are holding on to something that life, or a so-called evolutionary force, has long wanted to end. Or we don’t notice how we are trying to start something that has no real energy or life force behind it.
📌 For example:
– Holding on to an employee whose development has actually already stopped because “he’s always been there”
– Pushing forward with an activity or a project that no one believes in anymore, but “it has to work – it was such a good idea!”
– Sticking to a pattern where we have to attend every meeting because “otherwise I’ll miss out on important information”
– Or holding on to a job that has long since given nothing, but takes a lot.
A leader’s wisdom is not just about willpower.
A leader’s wisdom is about the wisdom to notice when something is ripe for termination.
A leader’s wisdom is to notice when life is leading and will is no longer an issue.
Sometimes it is not those who control more who succeed, but those who dare to let go at the right moment.
