All these phrases like September-every-other-month, new-year-again-again, etc. seem to imply that there should be some kind of major change at the turn of the season.
However, this change is very often taken to mean some kind of externally visible change. A large part of organisational change is also related to some visible part (structures, people filling positions, new programme, sales methodology – in simple terms, other-people-will-behave-otherwise type of reorganisation).
One of the main causes of failure to change is a focus on changing the outside world, forgetting (often deliberately) that if something doesn’t change within a person, we can build very big change management plans for our lives, but the result is disappointment at best.
We decided not to make any external changes to the podcast, because with each episode we change as people making the podcast. We need this podcast to discuss deeper issues with each other, and if it touches someone else, that’s a bonus. But the goal is to grow within ourselves.
And as this episode will also be questioned: “Are we not changing beyond the visible material things because we do not want/dare/know ourselves to change and acknowledge our error and the temporary nature of life?”
Many self-starters fall into this trap. As Reelika raised a good point in our opening episode of the season: “If you’ve dealt with yourself a lot, but there’s still no change, what’s the problem?”
You can find out the answer by listening to the 114th episode on your favourite podcast channel. Still under the name “Management without management”.
