The same should apply to leadership. A leader is not there to stay necessary forever, but to help complete things: build clarity, strengthen people, create ownership or make the system work. And then to leave.<br><br>But many leadership roles are built on the opposite logic. Not finishing the work, but preserving the role and not creating independence, but reinforcing dependency. Or not building maturity, but making sure the leader remains needed.<br><br>That is should not be called leadership. That is attachment to position.<br>If the work of leadership is real, it should move toward its own completion. Because the purpose of leadership is not to be needed.
