{"id":6630,"date":"2024-10-02T17:07:14","date_gmt":"2024-10-02T15:07:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ivarraav.com\/uncategorized\/to-move-into-the-future-you-first-need-to-move-from-the-past-to-the-present\/"},"modified":"2024-10-02T17:09:44","modified_gmt":"2024-10-02T15:09:44","slug":"to-move-into-the-future-you-first-need-to-move-from-the-past-to-the-present","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ivarraav.com\/en\/governance\/to-move-into-the-future-you-first-need-to-move-from-the-past-to-the-present\/","title":{"rendered":"To move into the future, you first need to move from the past to the present."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This image speaks at first glance of a client-agent relationship.\nWhether that helper is a therapist, mentor, coach or experience counsellor.\nBut in my view, a manager is also a helper.\nPerhaps the picture is also about the relationship between the manager and the team member.   <br\/><br\/>But since we have not taught anyone to communicate perfectly, we must now learn to do so.\nPsychological and therapeutic expertise in management is an obvious need today.\nA visible symptom of this is the epidemic of burnout and boredom.  <br\/><br\/>By therapeutic knowledge, I mean the knowledge of how the unconscious past and situations we cannot remember affect the present.\nThis knowledge also means the ability to come to the present by escaping into the future.\nMore specifically, the past and the future take the present moment away from us.\nBut if there is no present, what is there?   <br\/><br\/>But we can&#8217;t move into the future until I have come to the present from the past.\nAs a therapist and mentor to leaders, I see that most people have not yet come from the past to the present either.\nPhysically, of course, we are here, but mentally there are a lot of subconscious patterns that keep us in the past without even knowing it.\nFor example, through reactions that are inappropriate to the situation, but come nonetheless.\nBe it in traffic, fights at work, protesting change, needing attention, burnout, etc.    <br\/><br\/>Burnout is a very good example &#8211; in the vast majority of cases it is an unconscious need for attention and recognition.\nBut the key word is <strong>unconscious<\/strong> &#8211; what we are looking for is linked to something from the past where it was missed.\nGenerally speaking, a person cannot get it by ordinary thinking and talking, it requires deeper techniques and practices.\nSimply taking time off for a few weeks will not solve the problem.\nIt needs deeper work with the unconscious layers of oneself.\nObviously, the manager may not always be able to do this, but the manager might be interested in learning such techniques or in offering to help the person with a specialist and buying in this competence.     <br\/><br\/>What is lacking in organisations and what is constantly being sought from the future is the <strong>person.<\/strong>\nBut man himself is only in the present.\nIn order to come into the present, it is necessary to work through the clouds of the past and turn them into a resource for the present.\nThe future, and business goals, then seem to fulfil themselves.\nThe plant in the picture is starting to grow.\nBut it only grows here and now.     <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"522\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/ivarraav.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Ivar-Raav02.10.jpeg\" alt=\"An illustration of a therapeutic repartee, where the therapist waters the client's plant with her own tears that have rained down.\" class=\"wp-image-6626\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ivarraav.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Ivar-Raav02.10.jpeg 522w, https:\/\/ivarraav.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Ivar-Raav02.10-245x300.jpeg 245w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 522px) 100vw, 522px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This image speaks at first glance of a client-agent relationship.
