This boat ride reminded me that organizations are like boats\u2014they must move in harmony, although everyone on board may perceive the journey differently.<br \/><br \/>An important part of organizational life is the freedom to choose\u2014if the environment does not fit or if working together becomes uncomfortable, everyone has the right to leave at the next port, in the case of the boat analogy. This freedom of choice ensures that people do not remain in situations that no longer satisfy them or might even harm them.<br \/><br \/>How does your organization ensure that everyone can contribute equally and that collectively you move towards the same goal?
